August Brooks

Retired Army MSG. August "Scootie" Brooks, age 70 of 2298 Pate Brook Rd, Snellville, GA formerly of New Orleans and Fayetteville, NC, was called home on October 21 2016. August Brooks passed away in his home surrounded by his family.

August (Scootie) Brooks, graduated from Walter L. Cohen High School, New Orleans, LA. Class of 1963. He enlisted in the Army in April 1963 and after serving his country faithfully, August retired September 1983. After retiring from the military, August worked for the postal service for 18 years and retired again in 2003. He and his wife and kids made their home in Fayetteville, N.C. and later moved to Georgia. He was preceded in death by his Father, August Brooks, Sr., Mother, Mary Coleman, both of California, sister, Leslie Brooks of California.

Left with wonderful memories of Scootie are his devoted wife of 37 years, Luvenda Brooks of Snellville, GA; sons Raney Brooks of New Orleans, Terrance Brooks and his wife, Tanya Brooks of De Soto, Tx, Travis Brooks and his wife, Shaquita Brooks of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Deon Green and her husband, Robert Green of Lansing, KS; brothers, Earl Coleman of California, and Bobby Brooks of California, sister, Barbara Berry of Indianapolis and Betty Brooks of California and a host of grandchildren and great grand children. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and a host of long-time friends.

If would like to speak at the service we would encourage you to say a few words in lieu of flowers. The funeral will be Friday, November 4, 2016 at 12:00 noon, in Wiseman Mortuary Chapel. Mr. Brooks will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon. Burial will take place at Sandhills State Veteran Cemetary, Spring Lake, N.C. at :00 p.m. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7. AIRBORNE
