Dolores H. Robinson (Dee) was born June 30, 1944 in Asheville, NC to Tenella Spurgeon Holmes and the late Willie Ben Holmes.  A 1962 graduate of Allen High School, Dee continued her education and obtained her teacher certification in Special Education from Winston-Salem State College in 1967. Her first teaching assignment was in the Yanceyville, NC school system. Later, she took advantage of opportunities to work in the Greenville, SC and Columbia, SC school districts.  While residing in Seoul Korea for several years, during the 80s, she was an instructor for the Basic Skills Education Program on the military base. Upon returning to the states, Dee started working with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service as a Senior Store Associate in 1987 and remained there until September of 2016.  Dee is survived by her loving mother Tenella Holmes, sisters Debora H. Young and Glynis H. Holloway. God Sisters Cookie Fleming and Lucille Crump.  God Brothers Emerson Crump/Cathy and Curtis Paige/Sylvia. A host of cousins, other relatives and childhood friends in Asheville, NC, Richmond, VA, Denver CO and the Greenville-Spartanburg, SC areas.  Dee also leaves behind her extended family of Fayetteville, NC which consist of numerous individuals within her work-family, church-family, neighborhood-family and her Fresenius Kidney Care-family.

Reflections

Our Dee loved to talk, cook, prepare dishes for family, friends and her church family when she was able.  She consistently watched cooking shows on TV and SyFi thrillers.  She loved old school hits, dancing and entertaining others.  Dee had special pets throughout her life such as Bruno, her german shepherd, Sun-Tu, her great dane and her cats Misty and Hopless. Dee cherished her mother and sisters. There was nothing more enjoyable than  em than to see how much she enjoyed being in Asheville. Especially the times when she would bring home crab legs to prepare for them. This became the family’s signature get together event.  Steaming and eating crab legs and sitting around the family table reminiscing and having family and friends drop by.  She would do anything for you within her power if she was able. She might give you “attitude” at times but would try to work things out.  Planning gatherings and remembering the special occasions of others was one of her gifts that she continued to share until the end.  We know in our hearts that Dee has moved on to share these same gifts in our Father’s House.

Memorial service will be held on Thursday July 6, 2017 at 1:30 PM in Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Raeford, NC.  Arrangements entrusted to Wiseman Mortuary Inc.
