Reflections
“My people will dwell in a peaceful abiding place, in secure dwellings and in tranquil resting places .” Isaiah  32:18
Ernest Jasper Morine Jr. , age 82, the son of the late Ernest Sr. and Ethel Barnes Morine, was born March 23, 1934, in Raleigh,
N C.
Upon, graduating from Berry O’Kelly high school, Method, North Carolina, Ernest attended St. Augustine’s College, Raleigh, NC in 1951.  After two years Ernest left college and joined the US Army in 1954.
Ernest married his college sweetheart Carolene Johnson Morine  (Puddin deceased 2012), on December 25, 1958, while pursuing a military career.  The two spent decades traveling throughout Europe (Germany, Paris, Spain, Holland, and Luxenburg).  After 21 years of active service and three tours in Vietnam, Ernest retired with honors in 1975,  Fort Bragg N C, as a Master Sargent E-8,  82nd Air Borne Special Forces.
Ernest continued his education after retirement and earned a BA degree from Shaw University (1975), and a MS degree from N C State University (1981).
Ernest, Sargent, Dad, Daddy Mo, Mr. Mo, were the many names he answer to.  He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.  He knew no strangers and enjoyed the comradery with people of all races, and ethnic backgrounds.
Ernest possessed the character of a giant, continuously giving of himself in time, effort, and counsel.  As a well-traveled man, in miles and in life, he always took you to where he’d been and gave you the lessons from his travels. A counselor by profession he used riddles and sayings to make you smile and think.  Whether it was the six P’s of preparation or the definition of being on time, he could always recite for you and the masses the keys to success.  Always a gentleman who carried a handkerchief, starched, pressed, creased and ready, to catch tears of joy, sadness, or to wipe something new again.  His character encompassed all of the meanings of a real man and father:
Ernest faith blessed him to be a part of the congregation of Hood Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church and Helen Street Church of Christ, Fayetteville, NC.
Ernest was very active in fraternal Masonic and Civic organizations.
He leaves to cherish fond memories:  his son Ronald Morine; daughters, Dr. Davida (Fontane) Curtis, Rita (Wayne) Jefferson, Angelique Simpson; sister, Gwendolyn Jefferies; brother-in-law
William Crummy; grandchildren, Fontaine, Faith, and Felicity Curtis, Danika Simpson, Aurea, Emanuel Jr. and Regina Starks; four great grandchildren, Ciara, Sheree Brown, Sharnae Clement, Tanari Starks and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  Ernest and Carolene contributed to the lives of Michael Boyd, Misty Carter, Reggie Jones Jr., Terrance Meriweather, Michelle Smith, Christopher and Wilhelmina Veazie.

Viewing will be Friday 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM; family will receive from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home
