Eula (Davis) Dew

Mrs. Eula Dew, 78, formerly of 1602 Edgecombe Ave, Fayetteville, went to her eternal resting place on Saturday January 30, 2016. 

Her Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday Feb. 4, 2016 at 12 Noon at College Heights Presbyterian Church.  The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 12 Noon.  Entombment will follow at Rockfish Memorial Park.

Eula was a native of Wilson, NC and 1955 graduate of Winston Salem State University.  She served as a teacher and assistant principal in the Cumberland Co. School system for approximately 31 years, and was named Citizen of The Year for the system. 

For many years, she was a dedicated and faithful servant at College Heights Presbyterian, for which she received various awards and was dearly loved.

Her community service and affiliations were many, including Jack and Jill of America, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Winston Salem State Alumni Assn., Cumberland Co. Human Relations Commission, Cumberland Co. Retired Schools Personnel, Roadrunner’s Club, Pierce and Associates Human Rights Committee, among others. 

Eula was widely known for her generosity and compassionate spirit.  She continuously went above and beyond to be a blessing to anyone in need, including her large, extended family.

She relocated to Greensboro, NC in 2013 to live with her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren.  Her gentle and loving personality quickly endeared her to everyone she met. 

Eula was married to the late Artheneus Dew for 51 years, and mother of the late Sharon L. Dew.  She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Tonia D. and Kenneth R. Horne of Greensboro, NC and grandchildren, Brian, Alyssa and Ashley Horne; brothers, Larry Davis (Carmen) and Steven Davis; sisters, Ernestine Battle, Linda Hollis, Deborah Talley (Upton), and Anita Taylor (Patrick); and a host of family and friends.

Viewing  will be held on Wednesday from 2 PM to 7 PM at the funeral home.
