AUTRYVILLE - Retired U S Army MSGT Frederick Washington,Sr. age 74 of Autryville passed away peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2017 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He was born on May 31, 1942 to the late Walter Washington and Millie Trice Jones in Hopkinsville, KY. He went to school in Christian County in Hopkinsville, KY. He graduated from Addox High School in May 1961. On July 28, 1961, he was drafted into the Army. The Army allowed him to travel to Ft. Jackson, SC, Maryland, White Sand, New Mexico, Germany, Ft. Gordon, GA, Vietnam, Southeast Asia, McCoy Air Force Base in Washington State and Ft. Bragg, where he retired as a Master Sergeant E-8 who was a jump master in the 82nd Airborne. He served in the Career Special Forces and Socom-Special Operations where he worked primarily with electronics. After he retired from the Army, Frederick Washington, Sr. worked as a security guard and a truck driver. He also retired from the bus station after driving for 15 years. He was a faithful member of Christian Light Missionary Baptist Church for over 40 years. He served as the head deacon, superintendent of Sunday School, Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Director until his health enabled him to do so. Frederick is survived by: his wife, Velma Washington; daughter, Michelle Washington; son, Frederick D. Washington, Jr. (Jenny) all of Autryville; brother, Ray Waldon of Atlanta, GA; grandson, Frederick D. Washington, III; granddaughter, Larisa Washinton; God-daughter, Rev. Shari Herring (Rev. Zebedee); grandsons, Richard Willis & Darryl Long, Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss his presence. He was preceded in death by: sister, Pearl Marie Washington White; brother, Carl Edward Washington and granddaughter, Lanesha Rachelle Washington. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the Christian Light Missionary Baptist Church in Autryville. Burial: Church Cemetery with full military honors. A viewing will be held on Friday from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM; the family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 at Wiseman Mortuary
