Richard Samuel Kornegay, Sr.

SFC (USA Ret.) Richard Samuel Kornegay Sr., age 71 of Fayetteville departed this life Wednesday, January 31, 2018.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 8th at 11:30 AM in Cape Fear Conference B Headquarters in Raeford, NC. Burial with full military honors will follow in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.

In passing, Richard’s memories will be cherished by his wife Margaret Kornegay; two sons, Gregory Kornegay (LaShawnda), Richard Kornegay, Jr.: and a daughter, Anjeanette “Dana” Kornegay; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.  Through marriage to Margaret, Richard gained the love and honor of being father to three additional daughters, Annette Thompson, Helen Marie Drye, Monique Johnson, and one son David Martin.  Richard’s memories will also be will also be cherished by his two sisters, Bertha Carol (Harry) Ammons; Laverne Robinson (Nathaniel); one brother, Gary L. Murrell (Renee); and a host of other relatives and friends.

There will be a viewing on Wednesday, February 7th from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
