ERIC JAMES JOHNSON, age 34, died at home in Hope Mills on Saturday, September 2, 2017.

Eric was born in Wichita, KS and graduated from Cheney High School. He enlisted in the Army and served two tours in Iraq and was honorably discharged in 2008. He attended Fayetteville Technical Community College and earned a Welding Certificate, continuing on to earn an Associates in General Education. He worked as a welding instructor at FTCC.

Eric was known by his friends to be sarcastic, funny, hard-headed, loving, caring, and smart. He worked hard for his living and always said everything was going to be ok, even at the worst. He was good-hearted and always willing to help others in need.

He liked video games, watching movies or Anime. As a true native Kansan, he was a huge fan of the Wildcats and Superman. Eric loved chocolate chip cookies; and he dabbled in electric guitar and sang along to the radio. Most likely he is now fishing with his friend Joe and his dog Bella, in a place his son calls “Kevin”.

Eric is survived by his wife Kelley and his son Jaden, age six, and his mother Sharon and father Robert, a niece Jesslyn, a nephew Andrew; and was predeceased by his brother Carl and his sister, Reene.

Eric will be cremated and a private memorial held. Memorial service will be held at 3:30 P.M. Sunday, September 17, 2017  in the small theater beside the information desk in the Airborne Special Operations  Museum (ASOM) at 100 Bragg Boulevard, Fayetteville, NC.
