Mr. Ron Allen Hedrington, age 52 of Fayetteville departed this life on Sunday, March 31, 2019.
Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 2:00 PM Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
Ron Hedrington was born on September 19, 1966, in Bronx, New York to Manuel and Barbara Hedrington, whom he lost at a young age. Ron didn’t talk much of his upbringing other than to say that he always had to fight. He didn’t trust often, but when he let you in his circle, he was the most loyal friend you would meet. As he entered adulthood, Ron took on challenges, some because he had a desire, and others because someone told him that he could not do it. If you knew Ron, you know this was a motivator for him. He entered the military when he was 30 years old, serving stateside as well as in Afghanistan. He was a Military Police Officer, a Volunteer Firefighter, a Park Ranger, a Corrections Officer, a Volunteer with the Red Cross, and worked with teenagers at Tarheel Challenge. Throughout his many careers, Ron also provided security in both the public and private sectors. In Ron’s own words, “Been There Done That” By the Grace of God, Thank you, Jesus.
He gave his time whenever he saw a need, and never required the words “thank you”, as he was big on the fact that actions spoke louder than words.
As we sit here in reflection, let us remember that Ron was fair, firm, and consistent with everyone, and lived his life to the fullest. As his life came to an end, he remained strong-willed but learned to accept the peace that surpasses all understanding. Everyone who knew Ron will miss him. He leaves behind his twelve-year-old son, Joshua R. J. Hedrington, who resides with his mother in Spring Lake, NC. He also leaves behind his Special Friend; Sonja R. Brown, those few who were fortunate enough to be called close friends, and estranged family.
