Reflections of Life

Vivian Juanita Flowers was born in Savannah, Georgia on July 25, 1951 to her loving parents, the late Mr. Realus E. Nesbitt, Sr. and the late Mrs. Gladys O. J. Nesbitt. She was received in the presence of the Lord in the morning on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at her home.

At an early age, Vivian was baptized at the Historical First Bryan Baptist Church of Savannah, GA.  She attended the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System and graduated from Liberty County High School in 1970.  At Liberty County High School, Vivian met her best friend, love of her life, and sweetheart Dennis L. Flowers.  On April 2, 1971, she married Dennis, a military veteran, who engaged in travel spanning both national and international borders.  This was the beginning of their lives together for over 47 years.

Vivian had a steadfast personality and displayed characteristics that demonstrated faith, leadership, warmth, and energy.  Her heart was filled with love and always willing to help family and friends.  She touched the hearts of many near and far without passing judgment or fault.

Within her professional career, Vivian served as a Claims Clerk at Prudential Insurance in Newark, NJ, a Telephone Operator at Chesapeake Telecom in Alexandria, VA, a Telephone Operator for the Federal Government in Warren, MI and Nuremberg, Germany, a File Clerk for the Federal Government in Ft. Hood, TX, a Switchboard Operator for the Federal Government at Fort Bragg, NC, and a Substitute Teacher in the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System.  She also furthered her education at Fayetteville Technical Community College in Fayetteville, NC.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Robert T. Miller, James A. Miller, Realus E. Nesbitt, Jr., and Larry D. Nesbitt. 

Vivian leaves to cherish in her loving memory: husband Dennis L. Flowers of Fayetteville, NC; sons, Juan J. (Rachelle) Flowers of Charlotte, NC and Marcus A. Flowers of Fayetteville, NC; siblings Carletha (Rush) Yancey and Maxine Alford of Newark, NJ, Reverend Geraldine Drayton of Savannah, GA, James D. (Lorraine) Nesbitt, Sr. of Midway, GA, Quinton F. Nesbitt, Emory C. Nesbitt, Donna F. Nesbitt, and Veronica L. Nesbitt of Savannah, GA; aunts Hazel Bacon of Philadelphia, PA and Hattie Ray of Bronx, NY; sister-in-laws Bettie F. Richardson of Covington, GA, Cynthia Hargrove of Midway, GA, Modie Miller of Fleming, GA, Janie Nesbitt and Eula Nesbitt of Moreland, GA; grandchildren Jaden, Evan, and Ian Flowers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 25th at 12:00 Noon in Wiseman Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.  Viewing Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon at the mortuary. 

The family will receive friends at the home.
