Lorinda Ann (Rainsberger) Bertz

Mrs. Lorinda Ann Bertz, age 72 of Sanford, NC departed this life on November 6, 2023.

Lorinda Ann Rainsberger Bertz "Lu," age 72, passed peacefully at home from a brain tumor in Sanford, NC on November 6, 2023.

Lu, the most loving and kind-hearted wife, mother, and grandmother, is survived by her husband, Patrick; children, Sarah Jane and Samuel; grandchildren, Jasmine and Ambrose; and faithful dog, Bentley.

Lu was born in Massillon, OH on November 14, 1950, to Sarah and Victor Rainsberger. She went to nursing school and served in the Army for a few years shortly after graduating. She moved several times, finally landing in Florida. There she met her husband of 38 years, Patrick Bertz when they were both working as nurses in the ICU at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Pat was drawn to her selfless, kind heart, her beauty, and her goofy personality. They married in 1986 and had two children, Sarah Jane and Samuel. Patrick was commissioned in the Army and they moved every few years. This suited Lu well as she loved adventure and wasn't able to sit still for long. She stayed busy keeping up with the kids, working, and volunteering. 

Eventually, the family made their way back to the States and settled in Sanford, NC. Here Lu found boundless joy in being the best Grandma to her granddaughter, Jasmine, and grandson, Ambrose.

Lu was a lifelong swimmer and a devoted dog mom, who rescued many a pup and gave them an amazing life. She loved cleaning and organizing, she was the opposite of a hoarder and found great joy in decluttering. She was known for her boundless energy and go-getter attitude. Lu loved God and was a devoted follower of Jesus. She connected with God best in nature and by serving other people. She loved being in Bible studies and sent her family a text every morning with an encouraging Bible verse to help them start their day off right.

Lu was an awesome woman who loved fiercely and loyally. She made a difference in so many lives and the memories of her time on earth will be treasured by all who knew her. She is at peace with Jesus now, and her family is thankful to know they will see her again.
