Mary Ruth Rutledge

Mary Ruth Rutledge of Columbia, SC, formerly of Charleston, departed this life on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at the Inova Fairfax Hospital, Falls Church, VA. She was born on March 3, 1948, to the late Rachel Ruth Givens Washington and James Seabrook, Sr., in Charleston, SC.  Mary was also raised by a loving stepmother, the late Lutrell Brown Morgan Seabrook.  It gives us great comfort in knowing that Mary accepted God as her Lord and Savior.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Andrew F. Rutledge, Sr., four sons:  Donte L. Seabrook, Sr. (Dorothy), Andrew F. Rutledge, Jr. (Tracy), Michael (Mikey) R. Rutledge, and Arvid (Ty) T. Rutledge, Sr.; two brothers: Jesse (Poncho) Givens and Jacob Morgan (Eleanor); two sisters: Mary Margaret Givens and Catherine White; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, family, and friends-like-family; to include a life-long friend, William Rivers. 

Homegoing service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021, 11:00 AM at Memorial Baptist Church, 153 Alexander Street, Charleston, SC 29403.  Interment immediately following at the Edisto Presbyterian Cemetery, Edisto Island, SC. 

Public viewing will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Fielding Home for Funerals, 122 Logan Street Charleston, SC 29401
