Our hearts go out to You at this time of Great Loss of Your Loved One. May You draw Comfort from the Most High God's Word (Psalms 83:18). God's son Jesus viewed death in such a Gentle & Comforting way (John 11:11-14). Yes, he viewed death as One Sleeping. Daniel 12:2 ties in with that Comforting Scripture as well.
May You look forward to John 5:28, 29 & Psalms 37:29 being fulfilled!
