I recently saw an article on Linkedin about Green Berets from Fort Bragg participating in the funeral of President John F. Kennedy. The article mentioned “forty-six Green Berets were issued special orders by the Special Warfare Center to travel to participate in the funeral.”

I am proud to say my Father (SGT Jimmie N. Boozer, 82nd Airborne) was one of those Green Beret soldiers that participated in the funeral of President John F. Kenney.

55 years ago today in Nov, at the request of the Kennedy family, Green Berets from Fort Bragg hurriedly made their way to Washington, DC to participate in the funeral for President John F. Kennedy. Within hours, forty-six Green Berets had been issued special orders by the Special Warfare Center to travel to participate in the funeral. After the eternal flame had been lit and the ceremonies had concluded, the Green Berets stood post at the four corners of President Kennedy's grave. Command Sergeant Major Francis Ruddy, a member of the contingent sent to Washington for the funeral, removed his beret and placed it upon President Kennedy's grave. President Kennedy is a legend in U.S. Army Special Forces after giving his uncompromising support for them and the authorization of the Green Beret.

To the Boozer family, I offer my sincere condolences on the loss of your patriarch. I know that you will really miss him. He was always nice to me when I came around in the field ministry. Such a gracious man! May the memories of a good life give you comfort. No more sickness, mourning or pain as mentioned in Revelation 21:4. Rest in Peace sir!
